About Artful Dodger

Launched in 2005 by designer Scott Langton, Artful Dodger quickly took the fashion and retail worlds by storm with its innovative design style, forward fabrication and its bold, rebellious messaging and graphics applied to streetwear. The brand’s referencing of the narrative of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist from which it derives its rogueish attitude and 'from the streets' graphics inspiration filters into all product inspiration and chimes with the current customer's rebellious attitude to societal norms. Encapsulating the attitude of the brand’s namesake with masterful attention to detail and a swagger to match, Artful Dodger clothing was originally marketed as ‘meticulously planned and expertly executed to achieve maximum individual enjoyment and facilitate ease of havoc-wrecking’. With its distinctive graphics, intricate and lavish embellishments and unconventionally engineered garments, Artful Dodger firmly established itself in the Y2K movement as a visionary brand specialising in street denim, t-shirts, and sweaters.

Acquired by Iconix and Jay-Z in 2007, the brand was sold in boutiques and specialty stores such as Harvey Nichols in the UK and at specialty stores and boutiques in the United States as an exclusive, high-end apparel brand.
